Shhhhhh.
Don't say a word. While Daniel was snoozing, enjoying some good hospital administered
drugs we had this tattooed on his butt. We really feel that it conveys the double
meaning quite well don't you? On the serious side this is Daniels left buttocks
cheek. The surgical stapels "now removed" numbered 65 some secondary
sutures can still be seen. The surgeon said he could put his hand almost up
to the elbow into the wound. The spine was fully visible as well as the colon.
13 surgeries later and the above is the final result. The doctors at St. Mary's
did a terrific job. Oh by the way, for those of you who do not get the joke
let me enlighten you. X marks the spot and isn't that a nice set of railroad
tracks? Luckily it will be a while before he can spot that in the mirror. Actually
we had to restrain the doctors from autographing the work.
This
is the hospital bill so far. The release date is the date he was moved out of
the Trauma ICU unit and into the rehabilitation unit of the hospital. It is
not his actual release from the hospital. This bill is only for hospital services
not the anesthesiologist nor the surgeons. This is the most disturbing image
on this page. Click on the image to get th full view, if your stomach can handle
it.
Well
the bills just keep rolling in. The one on the left is for just one of the anestheisa
administrations. There are 12 in all. Grand total is $ 10,500.00 The one on
the right is for miscellanious stuff. We are still waiting for the surgeons
bills and other doctors charges. Hmmmm. Now will it be check, credit card or
should we just show up with a box full of money?
Highlite*
Daniel
went to have the remaining sutures removed from his tukos. Anyway after his
return he was complaining that the doctor left two stapels in. We were all
incredulous and told him that no way would a medical professional make such
a mistake. Well he insisted that someone verify the validity of the situation.
Now no one here had any uncontrolable urge to examine another guys butt, so
we called in Pete "The Lech" Nevai to do the honors. One because
he himself had gone through such trials and tribulations and 2 he was the
only person we knew who could do anything about it. Well the doctor actually
left in two surgical staples. Pete confirmed this when he came out of the
room mumbling something about getting a pair of wire cutters. A pair of which
he shortly returned carrying along with a pair of needle nosed pliers. Suffice
to say the staples were removed and are now sitting in a plastic jar besides
Daniels bed.
Study
that blank stare very carefully. Those are some really good hospital drugs at
work. What can one say, that is Daniel, that is a hospital room and it was his
home for 6 weeks. You can see the central IV line inserted by that white patch
just to the left of his neck. This was the first day after they took him off
of the life support monitors. Normally he had a ton more wires and tubes connected.

On
the Left the Hospital and the Traumahawk. These people and facilities are worth
their weight in gold. If you are a Palm Beach county resident. Call your county
representatives and fight to keep this facility open! Someday you or someone
close to you may need this valuable facility.
Well we finally got the bike out of police custody and got the pictures back
from the lab. Not a pretty sight. The front wheel is bent the forks were trashed
as well as all of the electrics and plastic.
The rear clip is twisted and cracked. Up to this point we thought it may
have been salvageable until I noticed that the steering head was nearly seperated
from the frame.
